We are delighted to have completed our first Padel court for Chipstead Tennis Club in Surrey.
It was a challenging engineering project given the wet weather we have had over the past couple of months, especially so with the construction of the concrete ring beam. Padel tennis courts are traditionally secured down to an in-situ reinforced concrete ring beam, which encases the court completely. These ring beams need to be designed to suit the wind loadings for the specific site and will be substantial in size in order to support the steel uprights, solid glass walls and floodlighting of the Padel surround. The upper part of the ring beam can be seen in the above photograph of our Chipstead Padel court, however, there is a considerable amount hidden below ground.
A well-designed and properly constructed reinforced concrete ring beam is a major cost of a complete Padel court. However, there is an alternative where the Padel surround is retained on an existing macadam surface by means of weighted plates, as can be seen in the photograph below.
